Full Job Description

Blanchett Neon is currently seeking a Shop Foreman to join our industry-leading team of professionals in Edmonton, AB.

This is a full-time position in a custom manufacturing facility, and the successful candidate will serve in an intermediate role between workers and the production coordinator.

The Shop Foreman is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of their team, including planning & supervising day-to-day manufacturing operations and meeting and/or exceeding production targets of productivity, efficiency, and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing department outcomes to ensure overall timelines are met
  • Providing feedback and interpretation of shop drawings.
  • Identifying a need for, and conducting on-the-job training.
  • Evaluating and ensuring the quality of work and finished products.
  • Resolving disputes and issues between workers.
  • Maintaining or exceeding work standards, including housekeeping and all other operational requirements.
  • Conducting regular quality inspections.
  • Ensure finished displays are ready and available for installation.
  • Identifying time and material efficiencies.
  • Stay current on manufacturing techniques and equipment.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensuring that team members are complying with safety regulations.
  • Understand and stay up to date on all occupational and safety laws.

Qualifications.

  • 2-3 years experience in a leadership position in a similar manufacturing environment required – specifically Sheet Metal or custom fabrication.
  • Strong knowledge of all systems within the Custom Sheet Metal trade.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Custom product manufacturing experience.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, Scheduling Software, and Inventory management software.
  • Experienced in maintaining a COR-status safety program.
  • Holds current Standard First Aid.
  • Ability to Lift up to 50lbs.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiar with a Union Environment
  • Competent in Conflict Resolution.
  • A high level of organizational skills.
  • Pursues continual improvement.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.

Behrends Bronze Inc. is looking to fill the position of Sign Maker, who, under the direction of the Production Manager, will primarily be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and standards, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role will also ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety, and quality standards, as well as customer needs.

The Sign Maker must possess the following:

Job Duties

  • Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Responsible for the successful completion of Digital Printing, vinyl plotting, colour management and application.
  • Operate Mimaki JFX flatbed printer
  • Operate HP Latex roll Printer
  • Operate 84DTS Printer
  • Operate Suma and Roland Plotters
  • Operate hot and cold Laminators
  • Installation of Signage
  • Maintain Equipment
  • Apply various printed items to various substrates
  • Responsible for Vinyl
    • Cut, weed, and apply vinyl
    • Identify and deliver vinyl-applied product to next level of production
    • Order required materials without overstocking
  • Estimate and gather materials required for production
  • Sign Installation
  • Lamination of subtrades
  • Assembly of signs, dimensioned letters, and extrusions
  • Adhere to established safe working procedures and always wear the proper safety equipment
  • Analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records or reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates or outputs
  • Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
  • Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Degree or diploma in a manufacturing-related field
  • Three years of related experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Mathematical aptitude and understanding of fractions and thousands of an inch
  • Able to work with scale drawings and templates
