Scholarship Fund

Purpose

The Alberta Sign Association (ASA) Scholarship Fund provides financial support to students pursuing post-secondary education, helping strengthen the future of Alberta’s sign industry and the communities connected to it.

Applicant Eligibility

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Enrollment:
    • Enrolled full-time or part-time in an accredited post-secondary institution, carrying a minimum 50% course load.
  • Industry Affiliation:
    Applicants must meet ONE of the following:

    • Be an immediate family member of an employee working in any Alberta-based signage or sign industry-related business that is a current ASA member in good standing, and or
    • Be employed by or interning with any Alberta-based signage or sign industry-related business that is a current ASA member in good standing, and or
    • Be an individual enrolled in an approved sign-industry-related training or education program contributing to the industry workforce, and or
    • Be enrolled in a recognized industry-training program related to signage, fabrication, graphic arts, visual communication, design, print technology, electrical/installation training, project management, or other skill-based pathways that support the sign industry.
  • Letter Requirement:
    • Submit a 500-word letter which describes the following:
      • Their connection to the ASA or the Alberta sign industry
      • Why they are seeking the scholarship
      • How the scholarship funds will support their educational

Selection Criteria

The ASA Board of Directors will review and select recipients at its sole discretion. Decisions will be based on, but not limited to, the following considerations:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference for applicants who have not previously received an ASA scholarship
  • Preference for applicants enrolled in programs related to the sign industry, such as design, fabrication, business, project management, electrical studies, etc.

Award Guidelines

  • Scholarships are awarded annually.
  • All scholarship funds will be issued by May 30 of each year.
  • Selected recipients must submit their first-term marks prior to disbursement.
  • Students must maintain a passing grade in all enrolled courses.

Award Amount

  • A total of five (5) scholarships are available each year.
  • Each scholarship has a value of $1,000.
